PAWSitive Placement Program (PPP)
A Humane Alternative to Traditional TNR
At Pet And Wildlife Sanctuaries (PAWS), we believe every life deserves a second chance. That’s why we’ve reimagined the traditional Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) model to create our PAWSitive Placement Program (PPP)—a compassionate, progressive approach to managing and protecting community cats.
Unlike standard TNR programs that trap, neuter/spay, and return cats to their original outdoor locations, our program practices TNT-R: Test, Neuter/Spay, and Rehabilitate/Rehome. Each cat that comes through our care is:
Tested for common feline illnesses (such as FIV and FeLV),
Neutered or spayed to prevent further overpopulation,
Rehabilitated and rehomed through one of our tailored placement programs.
We recognize that not all community cats belong back on the streets. Our goal is to give each cat the best possible outcome by carefully evaluating and placing them in environments suited to their temperament and needs. Our placement pathways include:
Barn Cat Program – For feral or semi-social cats who prefer independent, working roles in barns, warehouses, or other safe outdoor settings.
Sanctuary Program – For special-needs, senior, or unadoptable cats who will live their lives safely and peacefully within our sanctuary.
Foster and Adoption Programs – For social or socializable cats ready to find loving forever homes through our foster-to-adopt network.
Through the PAWSitive Placement Program, we are not just controlling the population of community cats—we are offering them a future filled with safety, dignity, and care.
